Global Value Chains: the re-interpretation of International Organizations

During the last decade, the main International Organizations (IO) have taken on the Global Value Chains (GVC) approach as a development theory from which policy recommendations for developing countries can be inferred. The present article aims to discuss the original contributions of GVC theorists while contrasting with the re-interpretation that International Organizations have made of said approach: taking these differences into account puts the conclusions and proposals that the latter get to in check.
