Abstract

This article aims to analyze the labor formalization process and its structural limitations since the 2001-2002 crisis to present days. Two periodizations were prepared, one corresponding to the economic dynamics between 2003 and 2017 and the other linked, specifically, to the evolution of job insecurity. A conceptualization of the types of employment growth was developed. The survey and processing of the statistical sources was carried out in three axes. The first deals with the characteristics of the branches of goods and services sectors in terms of growth. The second one explores the performance of labor market in these sectors in relation to registered and unregistered employment. The third investigates the effects on employment of macroeconomic and industrial policy developed at a national level.
