Abstract

The financial deregulation that occured during the 1990’s allowed transnational capital to enter as capital applied to production and as financial capital, which resulted in the concentration and passage to foreign hands of grain production and livestock production. The increase in international prices and the use of new technologies allowed for a significant expansion of the cultivated area, as a result of the relative fall in real income of livestock production compared with traditional farming and the different financial alternatives. This study attempts to answer the question of how has the beef sector evolved during post-convertibility.
