Abstract

The update of the debates about the concept of development allow linking it with notions introduced in sociology and economic anthropology in the last decades, like the Buen Vivir (Good Living), as well as with its anchorage in the local scale. However, it is possible to add the endogenous character - the ability to self-manage resources and establish an autonomous organization of local actors - to think about alternatives that break into the State-Market dialectic. Halfway
between public and private for-profit, public service - nowadays multi-service orga-nizations - cooperatives constitute a historical model of this kind of development, with more than nine decades of experience, which can configure a strategy even in other scales.
