Abstract

This article examines the main features of capital accumulation in Córdoba since the mid-20th century, utilizing an alternative perspective to prevailing views in the province. Through a critical analysis, the argument posits that what occurred in Argentina since the 1970s was not merely a process of financial valorization but rather a capitalist restructuring marked by two central tendencies: deindustrialization and export reorientation of the industry. Taking into account significant events such as the Cordobazo and the Rodrigazo, the conclusion is drawn that the import substitution industrialization (ISI) model in the province was already showing signs of exhaustion in the 1960s, prior to the military coup of 1976. Furthermore, it is observed that this dual tendency also manifested in Córdoba, albeit with greater intensity, due to the peripheral position of the industry in relation to the La Plata-Buenos Aires-Rosario axis.
