Abstract

The article aims to address the emergence of the National University of José C. Paz (UNPAZ) and the socio-territorial impacts that began to unfold after its installation in José C. Paz. Specifically, we study the urban and social changes brought about by the University taking into account the views and perspectives of the students. Some of the questions that guide this work are: What social and urban transformations tended to unfold in the area where the university is located? How are these changes perceived by the university student community? What new uses of space began to take place after the installation of the university for this population? What social and employability impacts are generated from the students' point of view?

The processes of transformation of the surrounding spaces, the new spatial uses, the sociability of the university population and the commercial and employability development allow us to analyze the multidimensional role of the university, understanding it as an essential component of social and urban development in the territory of José C. Paz.

Methodologically, we proceeded according to a qualitative approach through in-depth interviews aimed at recovering the voices of university students who are part of the UNPAZ community.
