Abstract

This paper examines the evolution of real wages in Argentina during the period from 2003 to 2019. Additionally, in order to diagnose the mechanisms underlying the formation of real wages, the study analyzes the connection between wage structure and certain macroeconomic variables, along with key indicators of the labor market. The main findings suggest the inadequacy of neoclassical theory in explaining the behavior of the labor market during the analyzed period and advocate for the incorporation of alternative theoretical frameworks that take into account other social, political, and institutional factors.
