Abstract

The purpose of this research is to understand how pension systems in Latin America have been reconfigured in the context of social security privatization, increasing financialization, and the influence of the current COVID-19 pandemic, with a particular focus on the cases of Chile and Mexico. In this regard, and considering the significant role played by the financial sector and the new role of non-financial companies, the behavior of pension funds in the mentioned countries will be analyzed.
