Abstract

The article addresses the dynamics of poverty in Argentina during health crisis (2019-2020) and partial recovery in the post-COVID era (2020-2021). We study the factors that impact the probability of entering or exiting poverty, identifying whether they are labor, non-labor or demographic episodes. The present study is based on panel microdata from the Argentine Social Debt Survey (EDSA- ODSA/UCA). The results show the significant impact of the health crisis on the labor market and incomes. At the same time, the evidence presented reveals the limits that redistributive social policies face to resolve by themselves, the structural inequalities from the productive system and the labor market.
