Indicators of a problematic functioning of the Pampean agroexport complex

Abstract

Grain and oilseed exports are the main item of argentine foreign trade, since they represent the most important net flow of foreign currency from abroad, and because they account for the largest share of export duties. This paper analyzes the information corresponding to this complex so far in the 21st century based on the construction of two indicators that allow quantifying both the efficiency in the collection of "retentions" and the correspondence between the liquidation of foreign currency in the argentine official exchange market and the value effectively exported. the results show considerable deficits in both variables.
