State-owned enterprises in China

This paper focuses on understanding the role of State Owned Enterprises (SOEs) in China since the changes initiated by Deng Tsiao-Ping at the end of 1978. To do so, we will look at their characteristics, evolution, internationalisation, innovation and their current situation. We will also break down the criticisms made from an orthodox economic point of view -mainly the attribution of being inefficient and fostering corruption
in their structure and dynamics-, to then assess how they correlate with reality. Finally, we will offer some final reflections..
