Abstract

The paper aims to analyze the accumulation strategies of multinational firms in the oil sector in argentina during the new millennium (2001-2015). in this period, the surplus of the companies increased due to the increase in the prices of the commodities. As a result, the sector was placed at the center of the debate as it was considered the main engine of growth. However, the paper discusses this idea from the accounting information of the companies. We build and analyze practices that jeopardize economic development. Firstly, capital flight at the firm level evolved according to the national (2001) and international (2008) economic crises. Meanwhile, and secondly, financial investment was determined both by the lack of liquidity during the international crisis and by exchange rate restrictions.
