Abstract

In order to analyze the Social Security System in Argentina, it's necessary to consider the central objectives of each historical moment. To this end, key variables that contribute to characterize each moment should be observed: the levels of coverage, the sufficiency of benefits, the distribution of income of its beneficiaries, and the sustainability of the system as a whole. These variables are what allow us to obtain a simple and expeditious view of the purposes that social security maintains in each phase of history. In summary, it is perceived that our social security system has a high level of coverage, but there are also certain challenges regarding its financing, given some existing complexities in the labor market. Because of this, the objective of this work is to review the historical milestones of the argentine social security system, with the aim of understanding the current situation and thus be able to analyze the challenges in the future.
