Abstract

In the light of argentina’s historical experience, in this article we take a critical look at Iñigo Carrera’s interpretation of the super-exploitation of the workforce in Latin Aerica. We analyse the basis of the latin american specificity from the perspective of this author and we return to his vision concerning the payment of workforce below its value. Studying the case from a historical point of view, we argue that Iñigo Carrera’s perspective lays sound foundations to understand the specificities of working-class exploitation in Argentina. However, we consider it necessary to problematize iñigo Carrera’s idea that the entire working population of the region has become a “surplus working class population” for capital accumulation. Following the evidence provided from the argentinean case, we present some provisional conclusions in order to understand the super-exploitation and differentiation of the workforce in Latin America.
