Abstract

Traditionally, the south of Santa Fe province, the center district of harvesting corn and being the business territory of agriculture, used to shelter many small and median porcine producers. This activity was always considered a complementary income to agriculture subsistence. The surface destined to the porcine breeding changed along the agriculturalization of the region. Many porcine producers abandoned the activity and others changed their ways of production. The strategies applied were diverse: from the simple reduction of the corrals to the total confinement with a high investment of capital.

In this work we show the strategies used by three porcine producers based in a location in the south of Santa Fe province. Our interest lies in highlighting the relations among other actors. We use a qualitative methodology demarcated in the systematic studies.
