The development of the Asian automotive industry through Sociology of Development. Case studies compared

Abstract

The present article proposes the study of the development of the automotive sector of four asian countries through the analytical framework of the sociology of development. For this purpose, a review of the emergence of this school of thought was carried out in the first instance. Then, from this analytical framework, the reconstruction of the sectoral development processes of four cases of relative success of its automotive industry, which are Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and China, was carried out. at the same time, to be able to carry out a finished investigation of them, the particular characteristics of the automotive sector of each country were linked to the forms of development of their economies. In this way, based on these analyzes, the different cases were compared, establishing similarities, differences, integrating reflections and new questions.
