Innovative Approaches to Strengthen Family Farming in Santiago del Estero (Argentina)

Abstract

This article aims to present two innovative experiences in Santiago del Estero (Argentina) that contribute to the understanding of family farming and propose new strategies to address its challenges, standing out for their disruptive nature within the conventional agri-food system. The methodology is qualitative, although some quantitative data are also included. The conclusions are divided into two parts: first, the shared aspects of the experiences are discussed; second, the efforts made by state institutions to consolidate these strategies, methodologies, and networks to strengthen family farming in the province are highlighted.

Licenciada en Relaciones Internacionales por la Universidad Católica de Santiago del Estero (UCSE) y doctora en Ciencias Sociales por la Universidad Nacional de Tucumán (UNT). Integrante del Grupo de Investigación Ruralidades y Territorios del Instituto de Estudios para el Desarrollo Social (INDES-UNSE/CONICET) en el que lleva adelante estudios sobre agricultura familiar, agroecología y mercados, Av.
